For over 100 years, Salina Culcasi has been producing and marketing sea salt directly collected within the Salt Pans of Trapani, a WWF-protected area. The Salt pans are one of the most distinctive features of Western Sicily, the pivot of identity that has always indisputably characterized this area and the uses of its inhabitants.

The Culcasi family has been committed to the production of salt for over four generations, keeping the tradition alive. It all started in the 1960s with the purchase of a salt mine damaged by mud and incessant rains. The Culcasi won this bet and saved the salt pans from being buried, actively salvaging the most interesting and beautiful areas of Sicily today.

The salt pans are the natural habitat of pink flamingos and numerous species of water birds, who fly, live, and thrive within a scenery characterized by windmills that blend with the sea, the sky, the pink of the sunsets, and the dazzling white of the mounds of salt.
