Castellammare Del Golfo is renowned for producing an excellent PDO Valli Trapanesi oil obtained from the processing of Cerasuola, Biancolilla and Nocellara del Belice olives. In this area are also produced excellent DOC Erice white wines from Lucido (Catarratto) and Grillo grapes and red ones from Nero d’Avola and Pignatello grapes.
The area of Castellammare is famous for its couscous, its pasta with sardines, its tuna, its dried tomatoes, and last but not least, its “bruciuluna” (stuffed and rolled steaks of meat).
A real local delicacy is Scopello's pane cunzato (seasoned bread).
As for the patisserie, the area offers a wide range of specialties range such as “i cosi ruci”, literally “the sweet things” (Christmas sweets stuffed with figs), ricotta cheese cassatelle, “picuricchi” (Easter lambs made of almond paste), cannoli, sfincie and biancomangiare, a simple milk pudding.
