
The historian Diodorus Siculus described in his writings the beneficial properties of these waters. He wrote “many people afflicted with ailments, using these waters regained the vigor of the body above all conceivable expectations” (Diodorus, IV, 200).
The Thermal Pools that are in use today were built between 1960 and 1990 in the area near the town of Castellammare del Golfo. Their waters have high sulphurous, alkaline and mineral levels and are of volcanic origin.
In the internal springs it is possible to take thermal and mud baths, useful in case of rheumatic and respiratory diseases. Outside there is a third source, the Bagno delle Femmine, which emerges directly from the nearby hot river at a temperature of 44 ° and 46 ° C.
