Firriato
At the beginning of the 1980s, young entrepreneur Salvatore Di Gaetano decided to dedicate his life to oenology and he chose to do it in the Firriato district, an extraordinary land located near the city of Trapani, famous for its vineyards and perfect Mediterranean climate.
Di Gaetano’s project started as an innovative take on viticulture, a modern approach to the management of renowned local vines such as Nero d’Avola, Catarratto and Ansonica.

The Firriato Winery and the Di Gaetano family are the protagonists of this very important evolution, not only from a mere economic point of view, but above all for the oenological quality of the wines and the ability to understand the evolution of tastes expressed by the consumers.
Because of that, Firriato has been confirmed to be one of the first Sicilian wine companies that was able to achieve one of the most solid commercial successes in the sector, thanks to its way of interpreting the ever-changing market rules and needs.
The face of this entrepreneurial success is Salvatore’s wife Vinzia Novara Di Gaetano who, in the mid-90s, took the company image in her hands and became its most effective brand ambassador. Vinzia’s extraordinary communication skills and spontaneity have earned her the nickname of “Lady of Sicilian Wine” and this has surely contributed to make the Firriato name famous all over Italy and abroad.
